View the Annual Report of Giving

August 30, 2010

Dear Calvert Community,

As you view the Annual Report of Giving, another school year has recently begun and with it comes the excitement of the season. I am filled with a renewed sense of pride and spirit as the students again fill the halls of the School, knowing that they have all the resources they need for a successful school year. These resources, whether they be books, computers, teachers, or facilities, are all critical for creating the excellent learning environment for which Calvert School is known.

I write this letter to express my deep appreciation to all the generous donors who supported Calvert last year, allowing us to keep the School strong. Specifically, I would like to thank our 2009-2010 Annual Fund Chairs, Matthew Thompson and Tina Patricio, who led a campaign that pushed past the $700,000 goal and ended at a record-breaking $737,698! The Annual Fund once again generated a “hidden scholarship” of $1,277 per student, funds that would otherwise come from tuition or endowment at a time when personal finances and institutional investments are under pressure.

This success would not have been possible without the help of countless volunteers who served the School in a variety of capacities throughout the year. From Annual Fund class representatives to alumni captains, from grandparent committee members to Phonathon callers, from reunion volunteers to the many others who helped...we could not have done it without you!

I look forward to another great year for our students, teachers, staff members, and the Annual Fund. It is amazing what we are able to accomplish when we all come together for the good of the School. I look forward to thanking many of you in person during this coming year for your unwavering commitment to our beloved Calvert.

Sincerely,

Andrew D. Martire '83, Ed.D.
Head Master
