Learning to Play, Playing to Learn

Our Program
The goal of Kiddie Calvert is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for the children of Calvert School employees, current Calvert School families, and staff from Baltimore area independent schools, ages 8 weeks - 4 years. Learning to Play, and Playing to Learn is our philosophy. We believe a child's work is play. To promote this concept the program will use a developmental approach to childcare in all areas of growth - physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. All staff members respect and respond to each child's rapidly changing needs. This will allow him/her to progress accordingly. Through language-based thematic plans, age appropriate activities and materials will be offered in an atmosphere of trust, warmth, and joy.

Enrollment Priorities
Licensing requirements allow for a limited enrollment of 20 children. Our program is intentionally designed to be small in order to maintain a quality nurturing environment. Understanding the need to be assured of a space as early as possible, there is a policy with respect to priority enrollment. The first priority goes to children (and new siblings) of those who are returning from the previous year. Calvert School employees, current Calvert School families, and staff from Baltimore area independent schools will be considered once space is available. Calvert employees can reserve a space, on any schedule plan, by submitting their request in writing to the Director. All other requests for daycare will be considered on a first come, first served basis, subject to space availability. A waiting list will be developed when the Daycare reaches capacity. Calvert employees who are anticipating new arrivals should consider reserving a space for their appropriate date.
