Calvert Success at Team Squash Championships

The Calvert School squash team traveled to Yale University last weekend for the U.S. Middle School Team Squash Championships. There were over 60 teams in the tournament from New York, to Philly, to Baltimore. Calvert traveled the furthest to compete, and the team played with a lot of heart.
The team supported each other throughout the tournament, watching teammates matches when the students weren’t playing themselves. In their down time, the athletes played trivia and card games, and the girls’ team took a guided tour of the campus from a Yale student.

Each team played four matches, and the boys’ team came in third place in division I. The girls’ team also had a lot of success winning half of their matches.

Congratulations to team members Owen B., Alastair C., Emma C., Clark D., Kate D., Will D., Charlie E., Eva F., Cullen L., Isabelle Z., Charlotte S., and Gib S. on your accomplishments. Thank you to the parents: Chrissie Bird, Bill Dowling, Terri East, Vanessa Finney, Steve Little, and Elizabeth Zollinger and to Coach Silberstein and Coach Lears who helped make the weekend a success! This trip has made memories for a lifetime.
