New Middle School Science Lab Opens
Following winter break, Middle School students received one more gift – a new, state-of-the-art science lab! Renovated this fall, this new classroom will be used primarily for Fifth and Sixth Grade science classes. This incredible room will also be the home of Calvert’s new “makerspace,” a place where students can gather to share resources and knowledge, work on projects, network, and build.
Popular amongst many university science labs and classrooms for their flexibility, makerspace classrooms offer students and teachers a setting where they can create and define projects in a workspace that best suits the project. Calvert’s makerspace classroom features movable butcher block tables and easy-to-access power outlets. The lab also boasts a gorgeous wall of storage shelves for students to organize ongoing work. They will also house our 3D printers, robots, and other design inspired projects.
The students enjoyed breaking in their new science lab today, and we are excited to see what they can create in it!
