Eighth Grade Caps Calvert Years with Castalia Projects

The Eighth Grade shared their Castalia projects with classmates and families on Monday evening at the Castalia Project Exhibit. As the culmination of their Calvert education, these capstone projects reflect a semester of work on a topic of personal interest.
Over the course of the spring semester, each student wrote a six to eight page research paper exploring his or her topic individually selected to reflect their personal interests and passions. The Castalia Final Project (CFP) is an additional creative component to the project. This year’s CFPs ranged from sewing to creating a rock wall to designing a virtual world to building an Etsy business.

Eighth Graders were mentored throughout the process by a Calvert faculty or staff member. By sharing an interest in the student’s topic, mentors model the type of life-long learning that the Castalia Project seeks to promote.

Congratulations to our Eighth Graders on completing your capstone projects! We look forward to hearing about and learning from your academic endeavors in the future.
