The Seventh Age presented a collection of Aesop’s fables to schoolmates, parents, and friends on Monday and Tuesday.
The fables all had wonderful morals:
-The Cats and the Monkeys
Moral: Beware of those who flatter, for they usually want something in return.
-The Meeting of the Mice
Moral: Do not make plans unless you are willing to carry them out.
-The Wolves and the Sheep
Moral: Be careful who you trust!
- The Fox Who Lost His Tail
Moral: To convince someone, you must believe in what you are saying.
-The Crabs and the Fox
Moral: Be happy where you are.
-The Shepherd and the Wolf
Moral: No one believes liars, even when they are telling the truth.
-The Ox and the Frogs
Moral: Do not try to be something that you’re not.
While practicing for six weeks, the students read a fable each day during morning meeting. Reading classes also wrote their own fables.
With a Calvert twist added to each performance, the students had the audience laughing with them in the Calvert Forest and Calvert Meadow. After the show, the actors joined their families in the cafeteria to celebrate with cookies and lemonade. Congratulations, Seventh Agers!
