The Eleventh Annual Calvert Classic
The Eleventh Annual Calvert Classic, held on Monday, October 11th, was once again a great success. With over eighteen hole sponsors and ninety-seven golfers, we had a wonderful showing of alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends of the school in attendance.
Hayfields Country Club proved to have spectacular grounds again and this year's weather was picture perfect.

At the Closing Reception, Alumni Board President, Rachel Arnot Rockwell ’91 honored alumnus, Hill Michaels ’51. The Calvert Golf Classic would not be what it is today, if it were not for Hill Michaels. Hill had a vision over eleven years ago and worked to bring that vision to life. Due to the continued guidance and support of Hill, it was announced that the Calvert Golf Classic trophy would now be named the Albert H. Michaels ’51 Cup. This award is given to the top scoring team each year.
After a close, but friendly competition, the 2016 top scoring team with a score of 60 went to Chip Merrick ’88, Hugh Purvis, Evan Davis, and Paul Corcoran, winning the Albert H. Michaels ’51 Cup. Congratulations to our contest winners Ben Hoskins who was Closest to the Pin, Jake Rothwell who took the Men’s Long Drive, and Susan Carroll who won the Women’s Long Drive. Thank you one again to all of our sponsors – the day would not be possible without all of you!
