Lower School After School Care (ASC)

Calvert School offers Lower School After School Care (ASC). Qualified day care personnel (at a maximum student-teacher ratio of 13:1) supervise students' enrichment activities, including non-academic projects, study hall, supervised play, and snack time. The ASC program operates on all days when school is in session, from school dismissal time (12:15 P.M. or 3:15 P.M.) until 3:15 P.M., 4:45 P.M., 5:30 P.M., or 6:00 P.M. No drop-ins, however, are allowed.

ASC fees are billed with your tuition bill and payable when tuition is due. Visit the tuition page to find out which ASC plan and fee schedule is right for your family.

Only students currently enrolled at Calvert are eligible for ASC. No child may attend ASC until all medical forms are completed and returned to the school. Enrolled Pilot Class students must bring their lunch every day. Snacks are provided.

Children should be picked up promptly and in person. For every child's welfare, our staff must know to whom they are releasing a student. Our staff makes a point of getting to know Calvert parents. A note from a parent identifying a non-designated pick-up driver is required. Families incur a late pick-up charge of $20.00 in 15-minute increments. After the second time a child is picked up more than 15 minutes late, he or she may be asked to leave the ASC program for the rest of the semester. Supervisors and personnel cannot leave until children are picked up; thus, lateness is a serious inconvenience for our staff.

Children should be picked up as soon as possible whenever school is closed due to inclement weather. After School Care will be closed for holidays and vacations, and whenever the school is closed for emergencies.

Middle School Extended School Program (ESP) 

The Middle School Extended School Program (ESP) at Calvert has been developed to help meet the needs of busy families and to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. Click here to find out more about the basic structure of the program and the associated fees are as follows.

Students are dismissed from the last period at 3:10 P.M. each afternoon and report to athletic practice, a non-athletic activity, the carpool circle, or the Atrium for the After School Study Period.  Students who remain for after school study period must sign-in with the After School Supervisor by 3:20 and will need a pass to use the library, watch a sporting event or meet with a teacher. Students remaining at school later than 4:55 will report to the Lower School (accompanied by the After School Supervisor) for After School Care please note that this program involves a fee and requires the child to be picked up at the Lower School after 4:55. If the student is not enrolled you will be billed for each late pick-up.

This period is a privilege for students, not a right. Any inappropriate behavior during this time, as determined by the Calvert School administration, may result in the loss of this privilege.

 Please note that when School closes at 12:15 P.M. the Extended School Program is not available.

1st Carpool Pick-Up Time (3:15 P.M. - 3:30 P.M.)
Those students not staying after school should be picked up in front of the Middle School from 3:15 P.M. - 3:30 P.M. Middle School students who have not been picked up by 3:30 P.M. need to report to the Atrium for pick-up.

2nd Carpool Pick-Up Time (4:15 P.M. - 4:30 P.M.)
Those students participating in after-school sports, non-athletic activities, or in the After School Study Period should gather their things and be ready outside in the carpool circle for pick up from 4:15 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. Students who have not been picked up by 4:35 P.M. must report to the Middle School Atrium and sign in with the supervisor of the Extended School Program if the student has not been picked up by 4:55 they will report to the Lower School Library with the After School Supervisor. Parents, please note this program involves a fee. Pick-up will be at the Lower School Library after 4:55 P.M.

Please be sure your child is picked up by 6:00 P.M. After 6:00 P.M., families incur a late pick-up charge of $20.00 in 15-minute increments from the Extended School Program. Supervisors and personnel cannot leave until children are picked up; thus, lateness is a serious inconvenience.

Students attending the Extended School Program should be picked up as soon as possible whenever school is closed due to weather conditions or other emergencies. We insist on this accommodation for the safety of you and your child, as well as that of our staff.
