Through preparation, action, and reflection, Calvert's Outreach Program seeks to promote a lifelong awareness of and commitment to community. The program aims to accomplish its mission through a triad of services: partnership drives, theme-driven service projects, and outreach opportunities outside the Calvert community. Starting in Sixth Age and continuing through Eighth Grade our students prepare for, engage in, and reflect on community outreach.
Read our blog to learn more about Calvert's commitment to the greater community. Through the Outreach Program, students develop a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the greater community to which they belong.

Project Highlight: Real Food Farms
For the second consecutive year, Calvert School is partnering with Constellation Energy and Real Food Farm (RFF) to engage our students in the process of farming as a means to addressing the community's need for more fresh vegetables and fruit. This learning experience teaches kids how to garden and highlights the health benefits associated with eating fresh produce. RFF is Civic Works' innovative urban agricultural enterprise engaged in growing vegetables and fruit on six acres of land in Clifton Park in northeast Baltimore. By using Hoop Houses and sustainable farming methods, RFF is developing an economically viable, long-term solution to help improve neighborhood access to healthy food.
At Calvert, the entire Lower School will be planting seedlings in trays, which will then be transported to hoop houses at RFF. Once seeds mature, our Middle School students and teachers will be involved in planting, harvesting, and distributing the fresh vegetables and fruits in local neighborhood markets that need it. We will educate our students throughout the process and engage them in the discussions.
