Middle School Science Teacher
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a full-time Science Teacher for its Middle School for the 2020-21 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
We are seeking qualified candidates who will be responsible for teaching Fifth Grade Science – Introduction to Experimental Methods and Sixth Grade Earth Science. A background in physics and chemistry is desired. The teacher will also be responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom including parent communications, teacher collaborations, and other school-based duties and responsibilities. Teachers are expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and serve on school committees on occasion.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with prior experience teaching middle school aged students. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
