Seventh Graders Take First Place at 2018 AIMS Battle of the Books

Seventh and Eighth Grade students took part in the 2018 AIMS Battle of the Books hosted by Glenelg Country School on Tuesday, May 1st. Our Seventh Graders took first place out of seven teams and our Eighth Graders came in fifth place out of eight teams.
AIMS Battle of the Books was created by a group of AIMS (Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools) librarians and is based on the national competition with the same name. This event brings the competition local and includes schools throughout the region. Students work with the school librarian during the year to prepare for the competition.

The competition is a full day tournament in which students’ teams earn points by answering questions about the books on assigned book lists that they received earlier in the year. There are several rounds and, by the end of the day, the team with the most points wins. Congratulations to Abby B., Clara G., Ashton M., Gwen S., Julia P., Annelise O., Mariana G., and Asha W.!
