In Her Own Words: Carol Campbell Haislip '69

Carol Campbell Haislip '69 recently traveled to India.
"After years of dreaming about it and a year of planning it, on Dec. 30, 2018, three friends and I left for India, celebrating the new year with a glass of champagne somewhere over the Indian Ocean. We decided to stick to the usual route for first-time visitors to India, starting in Delhi, going from there to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. After the hustle and bustle of the cities, which is something one has to experience in India to truly appreciate, we headed to Ranthambore, in hopes we would see tigers on the preserve. We were not so lucky but did see a variety of other animals. Next on the itinerary was Jaipur, a city known worldwide for its crafts, and then a quick plane ride up into the Himalayas. After a harrowing 4.5 hour drive up a narrow switchback road we shared with large buses and trucks, we arrived at our Oberoi (look them up if you have never heard of them!) resort 8000 feet above sea level, the only Americans there. It was truly a trip full of wonderful memories, and we are already planning our return trip!"
