Second Annual Mini-Week

Mini-Week consisted of three days of experiential learning in which students took part in a myriad of non-traditional courses both on and off campus. These opportunities gave students a glimpse into the ways in which the skills they learn in school can be applied in the real world. It was also a chance for students to dive into new areas of interest. Students built their own schedules from a list of more than 100 course offerings. They participated in physical activities like archery, biking on the NCR trail, fishing at Lake Roland, juggling, ultimate frisbee, dance, yoga, and boot camp. They explored the arts through courses like calligraphy, digital photography, and theatrical make-up; and the sciences through forensics, coding, rocket building, and pediatric medicine. They traveled to a dairy farm, learned to play chess, communicated in American Sign Language, learned about financial literacy, sports history and journalism, and visited court houses. While the majority of workshops were taught by our Middle School faculty who shared their own hobbies and interests, 25 of these workshops were led by parents, grandparents, and friends of the Calvert community! This collaborative endeavor is one that we know students look forward to each year.
