The girls were back at Odyssey for a rematch against an opponent that played us well a few weeks ago. The first half played out similarly to our first game. We kept most of the possession, the defense suffocated their attack, and the forward players kept the pressure on. We were able to get on the board about 7 minutes into the game, but that was all the scoring before the half.
Then, in our trademark style, we turned it on in the second half. Some beautiful soccer doubled our lead, and poise in the box gave us a third. At that point, we were rolling 3-0, 15 minutes away from a date with the championship game. With our lead secure, we fortified our defense, but never gave up on the attack. The last 15 minutes saw the scoring double once again to 6-0. With the clock winding down, we were even able to get a glimpse into the future of Calvert soccer by fielding a team exclusively of 6th and 7th graders! However, we can't get ahead of ourselves yet, as we still have a job to finish this year. Our final game comes Monday in the BAC championship. The game will be played at home against Kreiger Schecter in another rematch. Let's hope the girls are up for one more impressive display!
