Certamen Team Claims Two State Championship Titles
Eight Calvert scholars returned victorious yesterday after a weekend (April 29-30) spent at the Maryland Junior Classical League (MDJCL) Convention, where they claimed TWO Certamen championship titles in the novice and intermediate divisions, respectively!
In addition to these astounding division wins – against predominantly high school students – Calvert’s team of Quinn '25, Will '23, Esme '23, Caroline '23, Vivien '23, Johanna '23, Claire '23, and Liam '23 also excelled in non-academic contests, with the School finishing second in Ultimate Discus, Liam '23 and Quinn '25 finishing first and second in the Golden Apple Race, and Vivien’s diorama shining in first place the art category.
