Calvert Visits Alumni in NYC

Calvert School alumni connect in New York City for a night of conversation and networking.
At the end of January, Calvert team members hit the road and headed north to meet with alumni who have relocated to New York, or the surrounding areas. The event was hosted by Fred Clark ’85, and his wife Stephanie, at Findlay Galleries. The newly renovated gallery is located on 5th Avenue, just blocks away from Central Park.

Alumni who attended had graduation years that spanned over forty years. Attendees from the class of 1949 mingled with the class of 2008. Alumni heard the state of school from Head Master Andrew Holmgren and listened to remarks from Board of Trustees member, Jim Stradtner. Attendees asked if some of Calvert’s unique traditions were still a part of the culture. Head Master Holmgren assured the group that Folder Papers are still very much a part of the academics at Calvert and explained how programs at Calvert, such as leadership and athletics, are expanding and evolving.

During the event, attendees had access to the gallery’s art work which included a modern art exhibit and on another floor, some more traditional works, including one Henri Matisse original piece. Calvert alumni who have left the Baltimore area and headed north are in a variety of industries and stages in their career. We would like to highlight some of the alumni attendees from the event:

Fred Clark ’85 is the Vice President of Findlay Galleries, host of this year’s regional event, and uncle to Fifth Grader, Oliver Clark; along with Geraldine Nager Griffin ‘71 , who is the Senior Vice President and Auctioneer at Sotheby’s.
