Girls Win at Maryland Middle School Squash Championships

Last Friday, our Girls’ A Squash Team won their division at the Middle School State Championships held at Meadow Mill Athletic Club.
The squad, led by Captain Drue O. ’18, started against Bryn Mawr and ended that match victorious with a final score of 5-0. After a quick turnaround, the girls faced a much-improved Roland Park Country School (RPCS) team who had defeated Garrison Forest School in the semi-finals. RPCS came out fast, but the girls settled into their game plan, and moved on to triumph, winning 4-1.

Mary Alice Lears, Director of Physical Education and Athletics, and Squash Team Coach notes, “The finals were very intense at times, but gutsy resilience on the part of Anna M. ’18 pulled out the big win.” Anna was down 2-0 to her RPCS opponent but rallied and battled back to win 3-2 in an exhilarating match.

Great job, Mighty Bees!
