Walking for Water Funds Two Projects in Africa

The Fifth Grade participated in the sixth Annual Walk for Water on a chilly Friday morning in early December. Students walked, or in many cases ran, as many laps as they could around the track at Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Stadium to raise money for The Water Project, a non-profit organization that provides access to clean, safe water. This year, our Fifth Graders raised an impressive $11,598! This is almost double their goal of $6,000, and by far the most amount raised in the six years Calvert School has participated in this fundraiser.
As a result of their efforts, the Fifth Grade has successfully funded two projects in Western Kenya where 341 people will now receive clean water. You can learn more about these projects here.

Students also had the opportunity to Skype with representatives from The Water Project before kicking off their fundraiser. They will meet with them again near the end of the school year to check in on their projects.

Thank you to the parents who came to Hopkins to give support as our students walked laps around the track as well as those who donated.
