Shrek the Musical Jr. is Coming to Calvert!

After a successful run of Oklahoma!  last winter, middle school students are preparing their second large-scale musical production: Shrek the Musical Jr.
When Shrek the Ogre finds a bunch of misfit fairy tale creatures trespassing on his swamp, his efforts to make them leave find him on a whirlwind adventure that introduces him to a friendly Donkey, a vain and greedy Lord Farquaad, and the lovely Princess Fiona.

Shrek features Sixth-Eighth Grade students in a show full of laughs, dancing, and songs in a wide variety of popular styles. The student set design team has been busy creating a colorful and fantastical set that is unlike any the Lower School Auditorium has seen before.

The show is once again being directed by Alexis Tantau, our Middle School Chorus and Drama Teacher. She is being joined by Assistant Director, Betsey Hobelmann ’87; Fifth Grade Teacher, Claire Delin as a Production Assistant; and former Middle School English teacher, Anne-Marie Robinson-Siemen, Choreographer.

A special Lower School student preview performance will take place at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, Feb 25. Running time is 60 minutes, and the show is appropriate for all ages.

Friday, Feb 26 – 7 P.M.
Saturday, Feb 27 – 7 P.M.
Sunday, Feb 28 – 3 P.M.

Tickets are not necessary, but please reserve seats for the performances.
