Lea Craig Ward ‘80 Opens Owings Mills Fitness Studio

If you’re looking for a personalized workout that is also dynamic and fun, Lea Craig Ward ‘80 has just the thing for you! A lifelong athlete, Lea brings her passion for fitness to the Greenspring Valley with her new company Wardville Workouts. She and her husband Pete Ward ‘81 converted a space on their property into a studio where Lea works with clients one-on-one or in small groups. What sets Wardville Workouts apart from traditional gyms is the highly individualized approach that Lea takes with her clients, listening to their goals and crafting a program unique to each. “I want to help my clients enjoy exercise as much as I do,” Lea shares.
Currently one of her clients is her mother, Isabel Davis Craig ‘55, a proud member of the Class of 1955 and a beloved Calvert teacher for 20 years! Lea emphasizes, “I love helping my mom stay fit. She understands how important staying active is as we age.”

Lea also runs The Wardville Workouts Blog where she shares health and wellness tips. Articles include everything from current fitness trends to health breakfast ideas, and how to shop for the right running shoes.

Not only did Lea translate her passion into a career, she also took on the role of small business owner. This comes with a unique set of challenges, but that never deterred her. What advice does Lea have for alumni considering starting their own business? “Find something you’re passionate about,” she says. Not everything will go as planned, and unexpected challenges will arise, but Lea says those are valuable learning experiences.
