Why Calvert?
For nearly 125 years, Calvert School has been educating boys and girls ages 4-14. Renowned for its strong academic foundation and emphasis on important life skills, Calvert is a unique program that differentiates itself from other schools in the area. Our K-8 model informs everything we do. With a faculty whose expertise focuses on Lower and Middle School aged children, Calvert builds an educational foundation for each of its students that carries them beyond their 10 years here, into high school, college and beyond. All of our resources are dedicated to this important stage in a child’s development and promote his or her growth while maintaining his or her childhood just a little bit longer. Our Eighth Graders are given leadership opportunities both at school and within the greater Baltimore community and, most importantly, serve as role models to our youngest students. This leadership development is one example of the “soft skills” with which a Calvert student graduates. Calvert alumni are not only recognized for their strong academic preparation but for their organization and time management skills as well as their exemplary character and ability to self-advocate. These qualities are ingrained in a Calvert education and made possible by our K-8, coed model. Boys and girls learn together, collaborate together, and engage together from their first days at Calvert. They learn to appreciate one another in and outside of the classroom.

We hope you will explore our time-tested program for yourself. A tour of our campus will reveal Calvert’s strong academics, robust extracurriculars and, most importantly, happy and engaged children.
