Part-Time Custodian
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an immediate opening for a part-time Custodian. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland. The campus is easily accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and light maintenance tasks to ensure that school buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. This position requires attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the campus. The preferred hours will be Monday to Friday, 3:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. We will accommodate Monday to Friday, 3:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., if needed.
Responsibilities will include the following duties:
- Follow a daily, weekly, seasonally and annual work routine to perform custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and well-groomed appearance of the school. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Vacuum carpets, dust furniture, sweep and mop floors, walls and stairways, window cleaning that may include exterior and interior, desk cleaning, bathroom and chalk board cleaning.
- Remove garbage to appropriate receptacle.
- Maintain adequate cleaning supplies and refills dispensers for paper towels, toilet tissue and hand soap.
- Keep the Schools secure, ensuring all doors and windows are locked and equipment and lights are turned off after school hours.
Qualifications of the ideal candidates include the following:
- High school diploma or GED required with one to two years of related experience.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Calvert School offers a competitive hourly rate of $20.00. A retirement savings plan and sick and safe leave benefits are also offered. A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
