Kindergarten (Fifth Age) Teacher

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a full-time Kindergarten (Fifth Age) Homeroom Teacher for the 2020-21 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility, and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83. 
 
The teacher will be responsible for teaching Fifth Age, which is a Kindergarten program. Students are four and five years of age. The teacher will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Fifth Age team (consisting of three other members) to plan and instruct lessons and supervise children during the day. In addition to managing the daily affairs of a classroom, including parent communications, the teacher will be responsible for daily instruction of language arts, math, and other content areas. In addition to teaching, faculty members are also expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and serve on school committees on occasion.
 
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with priorteaching experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
