Long-Term Middle School French Substitute Teacher
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a temporary Long-term Substitute Teacher to teach Middle School French January through April 2022. Daily substitute teaching assignments are available on an as-needed basis prior to January.
Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
Substitute teachers play a pivotal role in the overall education of our students. Students at Calvert begin studying French in the Lower School and continue their track of French language study as a core academic subject in the Middle School. Students experience increased target language usage by the teacher and deepen their knowledge of high-frequency regular verbs in the present tense. The substitute teacher will be responsible for teaching French to students in Fifth and Sixth Grades and will also be responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom, including parent education and communications, teacher collaborations, and other school-based duties and responsibilities.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field with prior teaching experience. Prior experience teaching middle school-aged students in a school setting is preferred. A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
