Middle School Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Trainer
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Middle School Physical Education Teacher for the 2022-23 school year.  Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum.  Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline.  Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83. 
The Teacher will teach Physical Education classes to students in fifth through eighth grades. All teachers at Calvert are responsible for managing the daily affairs of a classroom including parent communications, teacher collaborations, and other school-based duties and responsibilities. Physical Education Teachers are required to coach two seasons of sports per school year. The Teacher will also be expected to contribute to the Calvert community as a club advisor and may be asked to serve on school committees on occasion.
Calvert has a robust athletics program for our middle school students in Sixth through Eighth Grades. Over 90% of Calvert students participate in at least one season of sports. Calvert is also in need of an athletic trainer to work with our coaches and athletes during the school year and a Physical Education Teacher candidate who is a Certified Athletic Trainer is preferred. The Athletic Trainer would be required to attend afternoon practices and home games in lieu of coaching. A list of sports that are offered can be found on the Calvert website. 
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience. A master’s degree or certification as an Athletic Trainer is strongly preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
