Lower And Middle School Substitute Teachers
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has openings for part-time Substitute Teachers for its Lower and Middle School for the 2025-26 school year. Calvert School inspires each child to lead a life of purpose by providing a strong foundation in academic skills and character development. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland. The campus is easily accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
Substitute teachers play a pivotal role in the overall education of our students. When our teachers are absent, we rely on quality substitute teachers to help ensure continuation of regular school classes and activities. We are looking for talented professionals committed to working with students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grades. Class sizes range from 15 to 20 students. Substitute teachers are needed for daily assignments and hours of work will vary based on need.
Responsibilities:
- Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
- Support students in their academic work and classroom activities.
- Communicate with school administrators, as needed, regarding student progress and classroom experiences.
- Ensure the continuity of instruction in the teacher’s absence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required and education-related degree preferred.
- Prior teaching or classroom experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage and engage students in a classroom setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible, dependable, and professional.
Schedule and Compensation:
- Compensation is $160.00/day.
- Work hours align with school hours, which are 7:45 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
