Fifth Grade Team Takes First Place in the Stock Market Game

On Wednesday, May 16 at Towson University’s SECU Arena, the Maryland Council on Economic Education hosted a luncheon for all award winners of the Stock Market Game, an educational simulation that teaches about the stock markets, the American economic system, and the global economy. One of our Fifth Grade teams won first place for the South Region in the Elementary Division. Congratulations Ben L., Jake B., August P., Piper H., and Morgan B.!
This is the second time Mrs. Delin’s Fifth Grade math class participated in the Stock Market Game and won first place. The team created a stock portfolio and invested a virtual $100,000. For ten weeks they analyzed stocks and made trades through the game, which helped them develop skills in math, language arts, research, and critical thinking.
