Head Master Andrew Holmgren addressed the crowd and expressed heartfelt gratitude for our donors’ commitment to Calvert School and for the efforts of our dedicated Calvert Fund volunteers. In his remarks, Mr. Holmgren remembered his former Roxbury Latin Headmaster and long-time mentor, Reverend F. Washington Jarvis, who recently passed away.
“‘To whom much is given, much is expected, and hurry up, you don't get forever to meet the expectations of your gifts.’ Mr. Jarvis met those expectations his whole life through his work with students, at his school and through his ministry.  He was a good man who left the world better than he found it.
I share this story with you tonight because I know you understand it.  I know that you recognize all that we in this room have been given, and I know that you value giving back. You wouldn't be here tonight if you didn't.  I also know that we share the common belief with Mr. Jarvis that the greatest way to give back in this lifetime is to help children… to educate children. You do this this through your support of Calvert School.  And my colleagues in the room do this every day through their work with our students.  Work that could not and would not happen without your love and support of Calvert.”
The Presidents’ Circle is a leadership giving society recognizing donors who demonstrate significant financial support by donating $2,500 or more to the Calvert Fund, helping to ensure the continued excellence of a Calvert education.
Calvert School is a coed independent lower and middle school.
