Boys’ and Girls’ A Squash Teams Triumph at 2022 Middle School Championship

Twelve members of Calvert’s Coed A squash team traveled to Philadelphia earlier this month to compete in this year’s U.S. Squash Middle School Team Championships, where the boys claimed third place in their division and the girls took first in their consolation bracket. Accompanied by Athletic Director Sarah Dennison and Coach Mary Alice Lears, the Calvert students were the only Baltimore team to participate.
After departing on Friday, February 11, the boys’ team — Jay S. '22, Jack M. '22, Connor S. '22, Billy F. '22, Jay G. '22, and Keating H. '23 — kicked off Calvert’s weekend with a win against Connecticut’s Saxe Middle School. Throughout the rest of the weekend, the boys also took on Moses Brown School and Middlesex Middle School to finish third in their division.

The girls — Anne C. ’22, Clara E. ’22, Anna P. ’22, Julianne D. ’23, Este S. ’23, and Ellie W. ’22 — began with a match against The Shipley School before besting opponents from The Baldwin School and Moses Brown.

“The boys and girls did really well,” Anna P. ’22 said during the bus ride home. “It was a great experience, and we are so glad we went on it.”

Congratulations to all who competed and well done on a great season!
