Three Games in Eight Days

We finished the toughest stretch of any football schedule I have ever been a part of as a player or coach.
We began Wednesday October 11th at St. Paul's with a strong defensive effort and a clock eating offense. We hosted St. Paul's for our home opener on Monday the 16th. Our 7th and 6th graders started in most positions on both offense and defense. They gained a great deal of game playing experience and we as a team are the better for it. Loyola welcomed us to their campus on Wednesday the 18th to finish out this trio of games. This was a very physical hard fought game from the beginning. Both of our scoring plays were a great combination of team play combined with outstanding individual efforts by A.J. Cooper and Daniel Owens. On defense Will Vincent once again went up against a player who looked as if he was a physical mismatch for Will. Once more Will showed that his inner strength is bigger than any player he goes against. Continuing with defense, our d-line was anchored yet again by our starting QB Riley Holcomb. Playing three games in eight days meant the entire roster had to be ready to commit and contribute. Kudos to the 7th and 6th graders who did a great job complimenting and spelling the regular starters. The plan to get them game experience on Monday worked as they showed confidence and toughness against an excellent Loyola team. Thank you all for your support! Now how about sending in some game pictures for the team page. Go Calvert!
