Calvert vs Cathedral

In the immortal words of The Princess Bride's Vizzini, "Inconceivable!" And in this case, just as in Vizzini's case, it happened none the less.
The girls came to this game ready to roll, having a players lead meeting before the game to pump themselves up and review our team's pillars. They were ready to play a physical brand of ball, grab every rebound, and attack the basket. Unfortunately, the game got off to a bad start. Despite getting good looks most of our trips down the court, we just couldn't get that final piece and put the ball in the basket. Meanwhile, on defense, we weren't protecting the paint in the way we normally do. It wasn't too bad at first, with a 3-2 deficit after the first quarter and looking at a 11-6 hole at half. However, it fell apart a bit in the third, and the lead ballooned to 20-8 in favor of Cathedral.
The team came in to the third quarter break a little down, but we weren't out. We made a critical adjustment and got back on the floor ready to make some noise. The double digit lead was quickly cut down, basket by basket, as the defense lead the way. It was a stellar job shutting down what they wanted to do, and creating havoc along the way. Before long, the lead was down to 4, and we had a game on our hands. We came out of that timeout even more confident than before, knowing that we had them on the ropes and unwilling to give them an inch. As the game came to it's thrilling conclusion, we cut it down to a 1, then took the lead, and tacked on an extra point for good measure in the closing seconds. Although Cathedral had a chance in the final seconds to steal the win back, we forced a tough shot and held on for the win. It was an incredible comeback and the game of the season thus far. After giving up 20 in the first 3 quarters, we didn't allow a single point in the fourth and scored 14. This is a game that will go down in the record books, and sets us up for an exciting last week of the season.
