Calvert School Supporters Raise $119,809 this #GivingTuesday

Yesterday was #GivingTuesday, a global day of philanthropy and charitable giving. For the eighth year, Calvert School joined organizations from around the world in this special day of giving.

Once again, our wonderful Calvert community, gave support to the School by answering phones and giving online throughout the day. Together, we raised $119,809 for the Calvert Fund from 177 donors. Through this support, students like Emanuel, Cate, and Anna leave Calvert with the core skills they need to influence and impact their lives — and the world.

Both recent graduates and those who graduated long ago gave back to the school they love. We received gifts from alumni as far back as the Class of 1943 to those as recent as the Class of 2021. The largest support came from the Class of 1976, and the highest participation came from the Class of 1972, which will be celebrating their 50th reunion in May 2022.

“Calvert still has the special feeling that we knew then, if not more so now, ” said Middle School Head Matt Buck ’87, who took time out of his busy schedule to reach out to his former classmates and friends.

We are grateful to our volunteers for giving generously of their time and making our success possible. A special thank you to Josie Worthington ’72, Wendy Griswold, Wendy Bond, Tom Brandt, Gayle Kelly, Dona Pinkard, Courtney Otenasek, Carol Haislip ’69Jeffers Insley ’13Kelly Whitman ’00Courtenay Shure ’91Lucy Michaels ’61Annie Wu ’01, Erin Yost, Skip Howe ’77Matt Buck ’87Julie Salovarra ’77Betsey Hobelmann ’87Charlie Albert ’72Elizabeth Goss ’99, Cheryl Southern, Kait Gentry ’97, and Sarah Brandt.

Thanks to our dedicated alumni, parents, and friends, this fall we have raised a total of $902,044 in gifts and pledges. We cannot thank you enough for your support of Calvert, and for getting us closer to our $1,200,000 goal.
