Calvert vs Bryn Mawr

Today's game was a tough one to take. The girls put on a great performance, dominated large parts of the game, and scored a couple of the better goals of the year. However, we weren't able to hold on to the lead we built and ended up losing 3 goals to 2. The first goal of the game was an absolute beauty. Graham got the ball around midfield and loft up a through ball that Daly was able to get on the end of and put in the back of the net. It was the type of goal we've been looking for all year, and the girls executed it perfectly. This happened about 7 minutes into the first half, and that 1-0 lead lasted to the half. Special shout out to Staley for saving a PK and preserving our lead!
In the second half, we started off well again with Daly winning it in the midfield, taking a couple quick dribbles and sending a through ball on the ground to Walton. Walton needed just a couple touches herself before hitting it past the keeper to give us a nice 2-0 lead. From there though, we had some bad luck. Bryn Mawr scored one thanks to an uncalled offside. A second goal was scored on a free kick from just outside the box. Then, with just over two minutes remaining, a third was scored on a breakaway despite Athey making a valiant effort for the save. In the end, we largely outplayed the opposition and I would take us to win a rematch, but we need to look forward now to next week and look to turn it around on Monday.
