At Calvert School, it is our commitment to meet the unique needs of all our students. Our K-8 private co-ed school offers age-specific teaching and co-curriculars to support each student's academic needs — both now and in the future.
While delivering academic excellence and encouraging a lifelong love of learning is one of our main goals, we also realize the qualities and skills students gain from engaging in a supportive athletic community. Our thriving sports programs allow students to learn what it takes to be strong athletes and leaders.
Our Sports Programs
Parents who are looking for private school athletics will find several programs here at Calvert School. On our campus,
we have multiple athletic facilities to support the health and fitness needs of our students. From indoor gymnasiums to a large multi-purpose field, our facility is well-equipped to help students develop socially and athletically.
Our athletic philosophy centers on promoting lifetime fitness behaviors and moral character. Students will learn the rules of the game while also having the chance to hone qualities like responsibility and integrity they will use on and off the field.
Our sports programs are divided up based on grade level to best support each student:
- Lower School: Several times a week, the Lower School students will gather and join special teams. During this time, students will engage in Physical Education classes and participate in soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse.
- Middle School: Once students reach middle school, they can choose from around 15 sports teams. Along with soccer, our athletic program also includes cross country, flag football, squash, and basketball.
The Excellence of Our Soccer Program
If you value excellence when choosing a private school in Baltimore that offers boys and girls soccer programs, then Calvert School has you covered. At our school, we offer over a dozen interscholastic sports for our students and intramurals for students in fifth grade. During the fall, we have a soccer program that many students join.
While this athletic program is fun and offers a way for students to get involved and form relationships with other classmates, it is known for its excellence. Many former students who have been a part of our program have gone on to achieve greatness, like winning youth and state championships.
Calvert Soccer League: Bumblebees
Families in and outside of our community will be able to join the Bumblebees, our Calvert soccer league. Kids ages 3-6 in Baltimore can learn basic soccer skills, movement, and hand-eye coordination.
This co-ed program is held on Saturday mornings from September 23 to November 11. Each session is 45 minutes long and includes a specific age group, offering kids the opportunity to learn with others and enjoy fun, age-appropriate drills and small-sided mini games.
