Our Bees were ready for the long ride to St. James Academy, the traditional host of the final.
As usual, they were relaxed but busy on the bus—and kept that attitude from warm-up through the first half! After a weekend full of candy, though, some of their fighting spirit seemed stuck in the honey. Plenty of shots on goal, but also too many dangerous counterattacks to deal with.
The Bees went into halftime up 1-0. Deserved, certainly, but 1-1 wouldn't have been a surprise either.
The problem? Our Bees seemed to forget their wings and kept trying to fly straight through the wall in the middle of the field!
In the second half, they finally remembered how to use them. Once the ball started reaching the wings, the space opened up and the 2-0 arrived. A well-controlled finish, followed by a dangerous free kick and a third goal in the closing minutes.
Final score: 3-0!
A dominant-looking scoreline, but the coaches saw plenty to improve before Thursday's final, where Jemicy will be waiting.
Hopefully, the candy will be digested by then and our Bees will spread their wings for the entire game!
