Director of the Calvert Fund

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an immediate opening for a full-time Director of the Calvert Fund.  Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum.  Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83. 
 
Under the direction of the Director of Development the Director of the Calvert Fund will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Calvert Fund. The Director of the Calvert Fund will
develop strategies for increasing dollars, participation, and leadership gifts to the Calvert Fund. This is a 12-month position that will require evening and weekend work with occasional travel.
 
Responsibilities will include the following:
  • Build relationships with key donors and prospects and conduct at least 50 local personal visits each year.
  • Manage a portfolio to solicit and retain leadership donors in the best way possible.
  • Manage the Calvert Fund volunteer recruitment process, tracking volunteer and donor actions in Raiser’s Edge, and communicating regularly with the volunteer team. 
  • Write all Calvert Fund solicitation letters and emails and manage the overall production schedule. Collaborate with third-party mail houses when necessary.
  • Oversee gift processing and ensuring personalized thank you letters are sent to donors in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the Banner Society Committee and stewardship of Banner Society members.
  • Lead parent class volunteers throughout the year to achieve strong parent and past parent participation in the Calvert Fund.
  • Work with alumni relations to plan, organize, and implement activities associated with annual giving, including young alumni giving and reunion giving.
  • Manage the Eighth Grade Gift Effort and volunteer committee.
  • Oversee and attend all Calvert Fund events, activities, and giving drives.
 
Job qualifications are below:
  • Bachelor’s degree with three to five years’ experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fundraising, sales and promotions, or marketing preferred. 
  • Must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work with independence in dealing with the diverse elements of the academic environment.
  • This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT and GiveCampus is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing philanthropic landscape and an eagerness to learn new software and platforms.
Calvert School offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00, depending on qualifications. Compensation is negotiable and will be commensurate with the candidate’s years of experience, skills, and overall fit for the role.
