What a way to even the score!

For the first game of the season, our Bees travelled at Harford Day and lost 6-3. The coaching team made rooky mistakes and our Bees were still looking for their way to play.
Our team learned a lot during their season and after a rough start punctuated with encouraging losses and a few wins, the Bees found their way. Calvert way is working hard to help your partner like your life would depend on it. There was a shift in the mind of the team after the half-time break at Mc Donogh and the strong words from the coaches (see previous highlights).

Will our way of playing be sufficient for the semi-final? Playing the first seeds that beats you 6-3, makes you an outsider, regardless of your progress. The bees were warn...

Harford Day midfielders and attackers were physically stronger and faster than us. Their technical skills were a bit too much for the Bees in the beginning of this semi-final and HD scored first. But our Bees are now used to fight in adversity and they kept their relentless efforts to steel the ball.
When you feel stronger than someone else, it can be frustrating to see that they never give up and kept coming at you after every touch, every pass or every shot. Harford Day had that feeling and started to roughen their game, pushing and tackling at the limit of the rules. The Bees known better than to respond to provocation, and they stayed in their game, running and covering for their teammates. HD got a second goal, but instead of calming them down, it seems it made them even more aggressive.
In the meantime, our working Bees slowly built their comeback and they scored just before half-time.

At half, Harford Day was havig a 2-1 lead. The Bees stayed calm and confident they were on the right track.

Calvert started the second half the way they finished the first and never responded to (dangerous) faults from HD. The Bees built such an amazing team-bonding during the season that one could feel the 23 players presence on the field at once.

This team spirit and the respect showed throughout the entire game was what finally causes Harford day to loose its soccer. Instead of playing a fast and passing game like they did in the first half, they focus on getting at the Bees after each loses of ball.

It was written, the Bees' work was to be rewarded and they equalized with 10 mins on the clock in the second half. Little did we knew it was the last goal before the Penalty Kicks.

The tension was up until the end of the two extra-time periods. Both teams had their chances and if Harford Days hit the posts 3 times, and Calvert goalies made numerous saves, Calvert scored a goal, alas after an offside position. Tied at the end of extra time, the Penalty Kicks were called by the refs.

How a coach can choose PK kickers? Well, Calvert Bees is a great team, and it has leaders, 5 Bees volunteered. Calvert was to shoot first:
The first Penalty was missed-Harford Day Scored
The Second Penalty for the Bees was a miss too, but the Bees stayed calm and confident.
They were right, Harford Day Kicker shot above the goal.

From there, Calvert kickers scored all their PK and our goalie made the saves

From 2-2 at the end of extra-time, to a 3-1 win in the Penalty Kicks.

A novelist couldn't have write a more dramatic end for this game!

Well done Bees, you work so hard and deserved your spot in the final!
