Semifinal Update

In chilly 40-degree weather with a constant breeze, the Calvert School boys soccer team took to the field to begin their title defense in the BAC of Independent Schools Boys Soccer Tournament... First up Jemicy.

The mission was clear - win and secure a spot in the final. Before getting off the bus, the boys were reminded to embrace their regular season accomplishments but know that now, every team they face will give them their very best. It is time to raise our level of play.

Right from the kickoff, the boys were determined to set the tone. Our striker, CK, wasted no time and found the net within the first few moments of the game. He dribbled past a few defenders and scored in an open net while circling the goalkeeper. The early goal put Calvert in the driver's seat. Later in the half, CK added to his tally with another goal, though there was some debate over whether or not it was an intentional shot or a pass. Nevertheless, it counted, and Calvert took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

After a chilly 5-minute halftime break and a reminder to stay active due to the cold temperatures, the teams were back on the field for the second half. The cool temperature and stiff wind made conditions even more challenging. Despite Calvert's chances, they could not add to their lead. Ultimately, the game ended 2-0 in Calvert's favor, securing their spot in the Finals.

The team displayed excellent ball movement and confidence, especially after only having one practice as an entire team in the past week. After the game, the post-game message was clear: "Enjoy this win, but we have to finish the job."

The boys are ready to take on a familiar opponent in the Finals, Harford Day School. We aim to bring the trophy home, but we need your support! So, come out to St. James Academy today to cheer on our boys as they strive to claim the championship!
