Calvert vs McDonogh

This was a tough game and both teams fought hard. Ultimately though, this game finished as a tie, but not without some controversy. The first half was a great display of soccer as both the offense and defense had moments of brilliance. We were able to take the advantage going into half thanks to a goal by Sody. It wasn't the prettiest goal we've scored, but they all count the same on the scoresheet!
The second half was just as hotly contested. McDonogh tied the game within the first 5 minutes of the second with a goal down the sideline. However, about ten minutes after that, we took the lead. This time it was Benitez who received a cross from around the top of the box and finished it off splendidly. With under ten minutes left in the game, we switched into a defensive formation and hoped to see it out. Unfortunately, with under five minutes left, McDonogh took an illegal throw-in that wasn't spotted by either ref. From that throw they were able to get it up the field and tie the score at 2, which is where we ended. It was a bad break that their final goal in the dying minutes came off of a missed call, but we have to move forward and be ready for our next game. We have a bit of time off before that happens, as we're off next week with ILP trips, but we'll be ready to go against Friends when we return.
